Heather Treseler (English) has received a research grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to participate in a three-week reconnaissance of new materials in Elizabeth Bishop’s archive at Vassar College in New York in June of 2017.

Treseler’s work on the poet Elizabeth Bishop has appeared in Boston Review as well as in two scholarly books, “Elizabeth Bishop in the Twenty-First Century” and in the forthcoming “Reading Elizabeth Bishop: An Edinburgh Companion.”

Treseler joins 15 scholars and poets from around the country in this NEH research initiative.

Treseler has also accepted a position as a visiting research associate in the Scholars’ Program of the Women’s Studies Research Center at Brandeis University for the 2017-18 academic year.

While there, she aims to complete a collection of poems, “Pantheon,” that recasts stories and figures from classical mythology in contemporary contexts. Excerpts from this manuscript were runner-up for the Editors’ Prize at Missouri Review in 2017, which published three poems from her sequence this spring.
