Frechette Shares Insights on the #MeToo Movement in Relation to Media Literacy

Julie Frechette (Communication [1]) shared her expertise in media literacy in an interview on the Progressive Social Network show “Project Censored,” and she presented a paper on the topic at the second International Symposium on Media Literacy held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal.

During the “Project Censored” interview [2], she spoke about “the #MeToo campaign and how corporate media portrays issues of sexual harassment and violence, within and beyond the entertainment industry,” according to the PSN website.

In Lisbon, she presented her paper, “Feminist Approaches to Media Literacy for Lifelong Civic Engagement: Analyzing the U.S. Sexual Harassment Scandals of Donald Trump, Bill O’Reilly, and Harvey Weinstein and #Hashtivism Campaigns.”

Frechette also participated in the UNESCO meeting of the Global Alliance of Partnerships in Media and Information Literacy held in Lisbon prior to the conference.
