Anthony Dell’Aera (History and Political Science) has been named the faculty fellow for a new partnership between Worcester State University and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.

In his new role, Dell’Aera will help students learn how to work toward a just society through civic participation, research, and understanding of the legislative process. Other responsibilities may include developing faculty and student research projects, organizing student trips to EMK Institute and elsewhere, and finding opportunities to connect with others to advance the causes of public education and civic learning.

After successful visits by WSU student and university leaders in 2017, the EMK Institute committed to working with WSU on projects advancing common goals that support skill development in policymaking, dialogue, and debate, and collaboration across lines of difference. The idea is to prepare students for active participation in the democratic process.

The Honorable John J. Binienda Center for Civic Engagement, under guidance from the Division of Academic Affairs, serves as the point of contact between WSU and the EMK Institute.

Through a range of partnerships and special programs in Washington, D.C., Boston, and other parts of the country, the EMK Institute aims to foster productive dialogue, effective public service, and a resilient democracy, the Institute says on its website.
